Wilma (Billie) Kagan, 83, passed peacefully with many friends and family close by, after a brief bout with leukemia.
Youngest child of the late Harry and Ruth (Levy) Rosenfield, Billie grew up on Jordan Rd in Brookline, attending Brookline High School and Brimmer and May. She earned her R.N. at Beth Israel Hospital School of Nursing and had a lengthy career as a caring OR nurse in Boston and surrounding communities.
Billie was a long time resident of Newton, FL and most recently Sudbury, MA. Aside from her devotion to her grandchildren who called her Gma and GG, she enjoyed Mahjong, Canasta, other games and puzzles. Billie always had a great sense of adventure, traveling to Italy, Israel, Alaska and more, collecting friends wherever she went.
She adored her grandchildren, was a huge Red Sox fan and doted on her cat Alfie. She loved lobster, Chinese food, white russians, the color blue, her lucky number 57, and a good joke. She was a great storyteller, analyzer and optimist.
Billie leaves behind son David and daughter-in-law Carol Kagan of Newton, son-in-law Daniel Snyder of Newton, grandchildren Ari and Jordana Kagan, Becca and Ben Snyder, sister-in-law Barbara (Mann) Rosenfield and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her beloved daughter Wendy Kagan Snyder and her siblings Jay Rosenfield, Joan Eliachar and Bobbi Hoffman.
Burial will be private.
