August 9, 1949 – November 26, 2024
It is with profound sorrow but with hearts full of gratitude for a life so well lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Analia Benjamin, who peacefully left this world on November 26, 2024, at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, New York.
Born on August 9, 1949, in Grande Rivière du Nord, Haiti, Analia was a woman whose roots were deeply entwined with the vibrant culture and enduring spirit of her homeland. She carried the essence of Haiti with her throughout her life, sharing its warmth, resilience, and joy with everyone she encountered. Though she made America her home in 1985, her heart always belonged to Haiti, a land she held close and cherished dearly.
Analia was a devoted mother to her two sons, Nolex Benjamin and Reginald Benjamin, but her love extended far beyond her immediate family. She was affectionately known as a mother to many—a friend, mentor, and nurturer to countless others whose lives she touched. Her grandson, Bradley Benjamin, was the light of her life, as were her niece, Erilienne Charles Thimotheé, and her grand-niece and nephew, Davidson and Bianca Louis, who brought her endless joy.
As the last surviving child of her parents, Elor and Clairezilla Benjamin, who were blessed with 11 children, Analia carried forward their legacy of love, faith, and compassion. She was a pillar of her community, a loyal friend, and a sister to many, building strong bonds of friendship and sisterhood throughout her life.
A woman of deep faith, Analia raised her children in the church and devoted herself to serving God and her community. She was a founding member of the “Comité d’accueil” and a steadfast usher at her church for over 20 years. Her faith was not just a part of her life—it was her foundation.
Analia’s life was filled with laughter, dance, and love. She had a gift for bringing people together, whether through her cooking, her joy for dancing, or her warm, contagious laughter. As a dedicated home healthcare worker, she cared for others with the same devotion and kindness she gave her family and friends.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and generosity that will forever inspire those who knew her. Though we mourn her absence, we celebrate the incredible life she lived and the countless lives she touched.
A celebration of Analia’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, where we will gather to honor her memory and the remarkable legacy she leaves behind.
We are comforted by the words of 2 Timothy 4:7-8:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day.”
Rest in peace, dear Analia. Your love and light will forever remain in our hearts.
A visitation for Analia will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Cusimano & Russo Funeral Home, 2005 West 6th St, Brooklyn, NY 11223. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at Holy Innocents Roman Catholic Church, 279 E 17th St., Brooklyn, NY 11226.
