Yurman, was born, raised and remained a life-long resident of Park Slope,
Brooklyn, NY. Eugene graduated with a degree in Education and was an
elementary school teacher prior to undergoing a career change into the field of
pharmaceutical technology. He was a graduate of Xaverian High School’s Class
of 1983 and St. Saviour Elementary School’s Class of 1979. Eugene quietly
departed this life on Saturday, April 11, 2020, after a brief battle with the
treacherous COVID-19 virus.
He is survived by his three siblings and their spouses: Roxanne and John
Davenport of Meriden, CT, Robert and Carol Anne of Staten Island, and Richard
and Michele of Bethpage, NY. He leaves behind his beloved nephews and niece:
William Davenport (Lauren), Christine Davenport, Michael and Eric Yurman,
along with many extended family members throughout the country. Most
recently, Eugene was promoted to Great-Uncle with the addition of Madison
Davenport.
Eugene was a member of St. Saviour Parish and was an avid sport enthusiast.
He enjoyed playing ice hockey, umpiring baseball games, and jogging the
beautiful trails of his beloved Prospect Park. He was a die-hard fan of the New
York Rangers and New York Mets. He had a deep-routed passion to preserve
connections with so many individuals that crossed his path during his lifetime.
A life that was ended abruptly and much too prematurely, he will be deeply
missed by his friends, family and all who knew him. Due to the dire
circumstances present in the world today, burial will be private. A celebration
of his life will be scheduled at some time in the future when we can gather
together in safer times, commemorate his life, and visit and chat as he would
have loved to do.
