Jeffrey Nier

Jeffrey Paul Nier, passed away on February 9, 2026, peacefully, with grace and dignity, his family at his side, surrounded by everything he loved; his family and dogs, the ocean and its fish, his plants and beach music.

Born on February 28, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York and possibly a leap year baby. Jeffrey was the son of Sol and Etta Margulies Nier. He attended Lincoln High School, Brooklyn, N.Y. As the founder of Jeff Nier Roofing, Inc. Jeff built a legacy of excellence that will be carried forward by Debra Nier and his team. Jeffrey was a United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner with a Master Captain License.

Jeff had a wonderful sense of humor, smart and witty, he was forever young and never grew up. Jeffrey was a great stripe bass fisherman; he loved his Grady wife boat. Jeffrey was a Padi certified Scuba Diver, avid runner, bike rider and weight lifter, cook and gardener and animal lover.

Jeff was a fun party guy, and always said “This is not a rehearsal for the next lifetime, this is it!”

When people asked how he was he always told them “Never better.”

Greater than anything else was Jeffrey’s love of his family. Survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Debra Lehner Nier, his daughters, Helen Russo (Charlie), Alexis Asencio (Nick) both of Brooklyn, N.Y., his Samoyeds Boscobob and Sugar. Survived by his 3 grandchildren, Stephen Russo, Skylar Russo, Kameron Asencio. His brothers, Donald Nier, Michael Nier (Shelly), Jeffrey Margolis (Cindy), nephew; Derek Nier. Several cousins including; Howard Beller (Angela), Francine Papierman (Sheldon), Randall and Jake Nier. Sister-in laws; Carol Amyot (Dave Soulier), Janet Godey (Brian), Paula Desimone (Eric), Joyce Rajkowski, Diane Vadney (Tim). Nieces and Nephews; Gerard Dempster (Nicola), Nicole Hammond (Jeremy), Michael Dempster (Kathy), Chelsea Verdugo (Nick), Aimee Amyot (Jeff), Greg Amyot (Crystal), Adam DeSimone (Ebru), Amanda DeSimone, Ashleigh Rajkowski and Peter Vadney.

Predeceased by his parents, and his niece Paulette Dempster.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at The Green-Wood Cemetery, located at 500 25th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11232, on February 25, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

Shiva will take place at the Nier Residence, 4007 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11224, on February 26, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and again on February 27, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
