I worked with her when she  was director of discharge planning at Coney Island Hospital.  Always smiling, easy to work with, loved what she did.  She ran a efficient department realizing she got more from her staff by being pleasant than by carrying a stick.  Lovely lady.

I will always treasure the memories I have with you. You were a devoted mother and grandmother and you always had the greatest words of wisdom. I’ll forever remember the last time we spoke and how happy you were. May you rest peacefully with our loved ones up above. I love you

Our family has many wonderful memories of Aunt Joan.  She was a wonderful person. She was kind, caring and thoughtful.  Were are so happy that our Uncle Jim had such a loving and caring wife.

Just heard about Joan getting her wings.  I worked for her in the 1980's at Coney Island Hospital, Discharge Planning.  Joan was always concerned about providing the best possible care for patients being discharged to their homes or to skilled nursing facilities.  A wonderful boss, kind considerate and always smiling.  She made that department a family affair for all of us.  Her place in heaven is assured.  God rest you, Joan and breathe easy.  Cathy Berntsen

I will miss speaking to you and seeing you, but I know you are with me always. Last time we spoke, you mentioned how much you missed Grandpa Jim. I hope you are with him now and I feel you here with me always. I love & miss you so much. I hope I continue to make you proud. 

My condolences to Joan's family. She was a great mentor to me when I joined the CIH family.  We worked well together and shared many good times together. She was a person of great faith as was her husband Jim. I believe that is what eased her suffering over the years. Rest in peace dear friend.
