

Josephine Dinsmore, born in Yorkshire, England and a longtime resident of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on December 28, 2025 — two days shy of her 89th birthday — surrounded by the love of her family.
Josephine’s life was a testament to strength and perseverance. From her roots in England to the home she built in Brooklyn, she carried with her a deep sense of resilience and determination. She will be remembered for her steadfast spirit and the enduring presence she held within her family.
Josephine is survived by her children Erik, Sonya, Deborah, and Sharon; her grandchildren Debbie, Andrea, Natasha, Bryanna, James Jr., Alexandra, and Amanda; and her nine great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward with love. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Yvette.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family — in the stories shared, the lessons passed down, and the strength she instilled in every generation.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, January 6th, from 4:00–8:00 PM at M.J. Smith Sons/Joseph G. Duffy Funeral Home, 255 9th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215, where family and friends are invited to honor her life and remember her with love. Josephine has been cremated in accordance with her final arrangements.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
