Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Larry was the son of Mollie and Isadore Ginsberg, and brother of Jack and Bruce. During his youth, Larry was a free-spirit who loved a good party and rock and roll. After his service in the army, and upon returning home from Vietnam, he made sure to greet every veteran by saying “welcome home brother” and “thank you for your service”— a trait he has passed down onto his children. He continued his public service for over 35 years as an administrator and supervisor for the New York City Housing Authority.
Larry and his first wife Alesa lived in Howell, New Jersey where they raised their two sons, Ian and Matt, and their dogs, Goddess and Tekoa. In Howell, Larry enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball teams, landscaping, and spending time with his family and friends.
After losing Alesa to breast cancer, Larry reconnected with Rosie, a lifelong friend from the Pink House Projects, where both Larry and Rosie grew up. Larry would move back to Brooklyn to be with Rosie, and they were married in 2006. Together, Rosie and Larry traveled the world and built a blended family based on love, respect, and communication.
Larry’s memory is survived by his wife Rosie, his children Ian, Samantha, Matt, Kelly, Christopher, Lindsay, Chantele, Mike, and Abriana, and his grandchildren Alexa, Madden, Ella, Colton, Emma, Morgan, Michael, Colin, and Anna.
