Lorraine Pizzirusso was born on May 19, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY. She was born to Lawrence and Marie Appice and had 2 older sisters - Rose and Jackie. She grew up in Brooklyn, got married and had a daughter Dawn. She later moved from E3rd st to 8th st Brooklyn, got divorced and raised Dawn as a single parent upstairs from Aunt Terry and Uncle Vinnie. She sacrificed so much in order to provide and be the best mother ever. She had typing jobs, worked in a nursing home and then was an Administrative Secretary for Polytechnic/NYU University. When she retired she went on to volunteer at 2 Church pantries - St. Thomas in Brooklyn and Our Lady of Pity in Staten Island. She also volunteered at Sean Casey Animal Shelter as she was a huge animal lover. She was an amazing mother and had the most special mother/daughter bond with her daughter Dawn - they were inseparable. Her bond with her sisters Jackie and Rose was like no other and the love/relationship between them was so incredibly special. That bond was broken when Rose passed away and that was a void that will never be filled. When she became a Grandmother her life took on a new meaning and she said it was the best thing in the world and she loved her Grandson’s Brian and Jason with all her heart. They meant the world to her. Family was everything to her and she’s always been grateful to have her daughter, grandkids, sisters, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends. She loved life - she loved walking miles a day and getting her “steps” in, reading on her kindle (she would hardly ever read a physical book), going to the beach, playing her favorite video game Ms. Pac Man, she loved her cats like they were her babies, and spending time doing various activities with family and friends. She was the most considerate, caring, thoughtful, loving and yes stubborn person ever. She would do anything for you and the world will never be the same without her in it. As hard as this is for all of us as she had such a huge impact on our lives we will have to just remember all the many many happy memories that we have had with her and will have to hold on to those memories until we meet again one day.
