

In 1957 he served his country for 4 years in the Korean War. In his unit he made it to E7 as a gunnery Sergeant with the status as a sniper. In that same unit he earned the honor of the purple heart which represents bravery. After his honorable discharge he joined the 71st precinct in Brooklyn where he became a Sergeant for 3 years until he retired.
At a turning point in his life, he also became a professional wrestler, and his name was the “Black Angel“He entered the ring with Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan.
My father dedicated his life to helping others. He was also loving and kind to his wife Petra Kopelakis and father to his two children Anthony and Josephine Kopelakis and his 7 Grandchildren.

Luke Kopelakis, age 86, of Bronx, New York passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025.
A visitation for Luke will be held Friday, June 13, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the John J. Healey Funeral Home, 2005 West 6th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11223. A final visitation will occur Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the John J. Healey Funeral Home. Entombment to follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
