Mattie Mae Tucker, was born on March 25,1929 to Dosker and Edith Walker, in Saint George, South Carolina. Mattie was the oldest of seven children. They were Dosker Jr.,Adella, Maryann, Salley, Lonnie, and one sibling who died at birth. They all preceded her in death.
Mattie finished schooling at the highest grade performed during that time. She was recognized as being a bright student. She also loved to sing and dance. Mattie truly loved people and she was a loyal friend.
Mattie met and married Joseph Sonny Tucker. They lived in Charleston, SC. From this union they had four children, Kenneth, Leonard, Joann, and Michael.
Mattie later lived in Philadelphia for many years, working to support her children who grew up back on a farm with her parents. At some point Mattie returned home to be with her family. Mattie truly loved her family.
When Mattie's health began to fail in December 2014, She came to live with her daughter Joann in Brooklyn, NY. Mattie now entered a new environment. Jehovah God, The 'Grand and Merciful Caregiver'
provided her with the very best of care through the loving hands of Evette, Arlette, and Cecelia.
Mattie never complained or mumbled or grumbled. She always appreciated what you did for her. She had a good appetite and enjoyed her meals.
Mattie also enjoyed a good spiritual atmosphere where she heard Kingdom songs that soothed and comforted her. There was one story that proved to be favorite, ' Anew paradise on Earth'. It's based on Revelation 21:3,4 Where it pictures a beautiful paradise with tall trees, pretty flowers, high mountains, animals and children playing together without fear. It says how God wants you to live forever on Earth in a paradise. He doesn't want you to have any of the aches and pains that people suffer today. Jesus will see to it that this wonderful change takes place.
I often told her, " Momma one day you will sit out under your beautiful tree and get to visit with all of your family and friends! You will be able to see, you will be able to speak, you will be able to walk around and take care of yourself! This always got her attention! Mattie loved God!
Her husband Joseph preceded her in death. Her beloved son Leonard, his dear wife Vivian, and their son Damian all preceded her in death. Mattie leaves behind her three children Kenneth, Joann, and Michael. Her grandchildren are Theodore, Leonore, Cookie Tara, Jermaine, Mikey, April, and Lashawn.
Her great grandchildren are Tobey, Nicholas, Marquis, and Demiah. Her nieces and nephews are Rosetta, Helen, Patricia, Jeanette, and Stephanie also Bell, Deloris, Mary, Rosa, Yvonne, Sam , and Joe, one sister inlaw Annie Lee, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mattie enjoyed the prayers that were offered on her behalf by our dear brothers and sisters in the congregation. She enjoyed hearing the voice of her dear son Michael and all those who called her name and asked about her and sent hugs and kisses made her feel loved and special! We would like to thank everyone for their support throughout the years!
