Michael Hopkins McComiskey was born into this life January 7, 1946, and passed into Eternal Life on February 6, 2025. Michael, the son of Irish immigrants Michael McComiskey and Helen Hanley, lived an uncommonly adventurous life, full of joy, wonder, and life-long learning. He was, among so many things, a seminarian, a captain’s steward on a transatlantic ship, a missionary in South America, a beloved high school teacher, and a practitioner and teacher of Reiki and Qigong. Expanding his understanding of the world and his place in it, and sharing it with others was a true calling for Michael.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by his family, but more than that, his family will forever treasure the blessing that was to know him and be loved by him. Michael is survived by Julia McEvoy, his wife of 51 years; children Michael O. McComiskey and Nora Kaiser; grandchildren Margaret & Michael F. McComiskey, and Lillian and Emmet Kaiser; sister Agnes Quinn; nieces and nephews Jason and Erin McMaster, Amy McEvoy, Mari-Christina McGlinn, and Caroline Roszkowski; brother-in-law Jim Quinn; and sisters-in-law Louise McMaster and Sue McEvoy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Qigong Association, Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, or the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
