Tom Keough, 66 years old, passed away in Brooklyn on February 7th, 2025. Tom, born in Meriden, Connecticut, was the loving husband of Connie Norgren, father of Luke, and grandfather of Thia Rose and Zephyr. Before his death, Tom had begun a treasured relationship with fellow Park Slope/Windsor Terrace artist (and friend) Judith Eloise Hooper. Tom, a fixture in his Park Slope Brooklyn neighborhood, devoted his life to helping others and creating and teaching art. He was a graduate of Pratt Institute and soon after a founding member of the community art group that thrives today. Until recently, Tom was an active and integral member. Tom’s art has been exhibited worldwide, including at the Museum of Modern Art and the United Nations offices. His political comics and graphic stories have appeared in many publications including World War III Illustrated and the City Sun. He wrote and illustrated a graphic history of the great Irish revolutionary James Connolly, called A Full Life: James Connolly, the Irish Rebel, which has been translated into many languages. A tireless community and political activist, Tom contributed his artwork and time to many organizations including the IWW, War Resisters League, Brooklynites For Peace, and Irish For Racial Justice. The world was better for his time here. He will be sorely missed, but his actions and art will reverberate for a long, long time.
Viewing will be Sunday, February 16th 2-4pm, and the Memorial Service will begin 4pm until 6pm that day at the Duffy Funeral Home 255 9th St, Brooklyn, NY.
