Thomas G. Scalese

Thomas G. Scalese, A.K.A Grumpy, a lifelong New Yorker, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in New York, New York, Thomas was a proud resident of Sheepshead Bay for many years and dedicated his life to public service. He was involved in the Plumb Beach Civic Association, St. Mark's Church and was a Boy Scout leader of Troop 388.

He served with distinction as Deputy Chief of Custodial Services for the NYC Department of General Services, overseeing operations at numerous buildings and institutions throughout the city. Thomas took great pride in his work and his role in maintaining the fabric of New York City life. He was also a Big Bay Improvement Group member for over 30 years! He truly loved the Bay, It was his home.

Beloved husband of the late Georgette, Thomas was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving children: Lisa & David Pistilli, Dawn & John McGuinness, Gena & Chris Spinelli, and Thomas Scalese. He was a cherished grandfather to Nicholas Pistilli, Georgianna Pistilli, Isabella Pistilli, Johnny McGuinness, Michael McGuinness, Mack Mcguinness, Christopher Spinelli, and Alexander & Mary Elizabeth Spinelli. He also leaves behind his great-grandson, Elijah Pistilli.
