

Annie Mountain Peters, age 77, of Spring Lake, Florida, died on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A true native, born and raised in Spring Lake, she was born on February 17, 1937, to Bernard Mountain and Vera
Agnes (Guthery) Mountain. Annie worked for nearly 20 years for the State of Florida, at the Hernando County Court House, in Brooksville. Annie loved life and was well known for her love of her family, friends, and her pets. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, painting, collecting rocks and arrowheads, reading, exploring, watching Jeopardy, and was really known to have a witty sense of humor. Annie was Methodist by faith and a longtime member of the Spring Lake United Methodist Church, and she was active in the Community Civic Club of Spring Lake. Annie was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Mountain, brother Marcel Mountain, sisters-in-law, Susan J. Mountain and Carolyn Mountain, son-in-law, Homer Piakis and grandson, Kyle Bradley Shugrue. Annie is survived by her loving family including her mother, Agnes Mountain Perkins, of Spring Lake, Fl., Daughters; Eve Allen Law and husband Tom, of Tampa, Fl., Julia Piakis, of Vero Beach, FL., Kim Allen Shugrue, and companion Tom Vealey, of Riverview, FL., sons; James R. Allen II, and his wife Amy, of Marianna, Fl., and Kevin Pigott, and his companion Karen Baker, of Brooksville, FL., Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 3.75 great grandchildren, and brothers, Marvin Mountain, of Morristown, TN., Ollie Mountain, and George Mountain, both of Spring Lake, FL., and sister-in-law, Olene Mountain, of Spring Hill., FL. Family and friends will gather on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Spring Lake United Methodist Church, 4191 Spring Lake Highway, Brooksville, FL., 34602 from 9-10 am. The funeral service will follow at the church at 10 am, with Pastor Williston Brewer officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Spring Lake Cemetery. A reception is planned after the committal service at the fellowship hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Spring Lake United Methodist Church in Annie’s memory.
