It is with great sadness that we announce our matriarch and queen, Joan Sheen Thomas, sadly went to be with our Heavenly Father on August 18, 2024.
Joan was a religious individual. She served the Lord everyday. God put her on earth with the purpose of touching us with her exceptional muti-talented skills as an athlete, fabricant, artisan, cuisine connoisseur, businesswoman, examiner and more.
Joan was a multi-sport athlete in Trinidad. She played basketball, cricket, and netball. Her self-confidence, motivation, discipline and resilience contributed to the success of her teams traveling exterior and the teams featured in their hometown newspaper clippings.
In Trinidad, USA and Canada she made individuals feel like royalty with her sewist and tailored skills.
The South Shore Black Community Association (S.S.B.C.A.) dancers monumental with the unlimited numbers of costumes she produced.
Fashion shows for the Trinidad and Tobago Association (T&T Association), S.S.B.C.A., Unity Church, memorable with her J.S.T. (Joan Sheen Thomas) fashions African Wear.
Joan’s home displays a considerable number of arts and crafts that are astonishing and magnificent.
Joan’s culinary skills were delectable for potlucks such as the S.S.B.C.A. family day in the park, family dinners and other get-togethers.
Acquiring real estate properties made her a businesswoman of approximately 5 decades. Her entrepreneur skills were shown through her hard work, willingness to learn, creativity and resilience.
The last and not the least her professional skills as an invigilator for Concordia University. She had qualities that illustrated her professional and institutional commitment to education and integrity. These competences advanced her to a position of invigilating exams from external institutions such as Harvard, University of Cambridge, British Council, Athabasca and among others.
Everything that Joan touched turned to gold.
She used her astounding and mystifying gifts to touch the lives of her family, friends and community making her “Unforgettable”.
A beloved Wife of close to six decades to Terrence Thomas.
A devoted Mother to Andrea (late Frantz), Thaddeus, and Trevor.
A cherished Grandmother to Ashley, Tyler, Fritz, and Morgan (a.k.a. Sophia).

Joan is survived by her dear sisters, Jean and Janice, along with her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends, who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest and living life in peace, love and harmony.
