We are saddened to announce the passing of Laszlo (Leslie) on June 16th, 2022, at 89 years old. Devoted husband of his late wife, Eva for 61 years. Cherished father of Eva (Wayne) and the absolutely adored grandfather of Eric.
Laszlo was born in the small town of Papa, Hungary in 1933 . Flying had always been his passion as a boy. He joined the Hungarian Air Force, as his Career and flew small planes.
However, in 1956, decided to leave his career as a pilot during the revolution. He escaped his country with Eva , walking day and night to a border in Austria with just a suitcase.
He married Eva in Salzburg, Austria on January 8, 1957. They travelled from many many refugee camps and finally boarded a ship to Canada from Bremerhaven, Germany. They landed in Halifax October 1957 after three weeks on the ship. He made Canada his home with no money and no language ,just a suitcase with a few photos. Always loved his roots from Hungary, and always thought of his mother who chose to stay behind. He was very grateful to Canada for allowing them to come and start a new life in a safe country. He lived life to the fullest and was immensely proud of his little family, his wife and daughter. His daughter was the apple of his eye. He always made sure she would laugh and have fun even when he took her to Alouettes football practice at Jarry Park, or to wash his car, or to a park with her little friends, or test-drive snowmobiles in the fields in the summer. Laszlo(Laci) was a hard working man (sometimes two jobs) dedicated to having his family safe, in a loving home with whatever he could provide. Laszlo was a kind, gentle and fun loving man. He loved to laugh, to make others laugh and he loved social events with his wife and dancing together wherever they went. When his grandson was born, 34 years ago, they had an instant connection of fun times and laughing , many stories, antics and memories.
This past year, was a struggle for Laszlo, after two strokes. Yet, he always appreciated that his daughter and grandson took care of him in his own home. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed, but our consolation is that he is with his beloved wife Eva, and they are dancing together again.
Cremation was private.
The family will receive visitors , everyone is welcome, on Saturday, July 9th 2022 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm at Laszlo’s home in Brossard. (Please contact family for address)
