Lorenza (Robles) Cristobal

Lorenza “Lorrie” Cristobal (née Robles), 83, of St-Hubert died peacefully at home in the presence of her devoted husband of 55 years on January 7, 2025. She was born on July 10, 1941 to Fortunato Robles and Cecilia Robles (née Santiago) in Hagonoy, Bulacan, Philippines.

Lorrie graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a BSc. in Nursing in 1961. After a two-year internship in New Jersey, USA, Lorrie moved to Canada where she met her husband Leonardo Cristobal in Montreal in 1968. They moved to Winnipeg where Lorrie held the position of Night Supervisor at Misericordia General Hospital from 1970-1972. They returned to Montreal where Lorrie continued her nursing career at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with a special interest in geriatric nursing. She retired in 1996.

The first of her family to immigrate to Canada, Lorrie and her husband sponsored many family members who followed in her footsteps, while routinely visiting and supporting family who remained in the Philippines. She was an avid gardener and loving mother who enjoyed the nurturing arts of cooking, baking, and hosting family dinners. A devout catholic, Lorrie was a faithful parishioner of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church. She was godmother to Jennifer Stylianoudakis and Jeffrey Martin.

She is survived by her husband Lonnie; daughters Cecile (Trevor Mowchun), and Maribelle Cristobal Gregorio; grandsons Jacob Gregorio and Sebastien Gregorio; half siblings Policarpio (Magdalena) Briones, Natividad (Salustiano) Sibuyo, John (Grace) Briones, Zenaida (Manuel) Briones Dulay, and Lilian (Andres) Baaco; cousin Susana Martin; first cousins once removed Nerisa (Roland) Manahan Balagtas and Jeffrey Martin. Lorrie was predeceased by her parents, Fortunato Robles and Cecilia Briones; step-father Roberto Briones; and siblings Juliana and Genoveva.

Visitation for Lorrie will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at La Maison Darche Services funéraires, 7679 Taschereau Blvd, Brossard, QC J4Y 1A2.

Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 5070 rue Gilbert, St-Hubert, QC J3Y 2K7.
