With deep love and gratitude, we honor the remarkable journey of Prithvipal Singh Saluja, son of Dr. Gian Singh and Bhagwant Kaur, a man who crossed oceans to build a future for his family and spent a lifetime sharing his blessings with his community. He passed away peacefully on May 9th, 2026 in Montreal. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and community leader, Prithvipal Singh lived a life rooted in Sikh values of service, hard work, and unwavering love for his kin.
A pillar of strength, integrity, and devotion, Prithvipal Singh’s journey began in Jammu, India. His journey was defined by his vision for the future. After marrying his beloved wife in 1969, he made the courageous decision to cross oceans from India to Canada in 1974. Arriving with three young children, he was tirelessly driven by a singular goal: to build a life of greater opportunity and promise for his family. In Montreal, he established himself and enjoyed a distinguished career as a metallurgical engineer, earning the respect through perseverance and professional dedication.
No matter how busy life became, Prithvipal Singh remained a cornerstone of the Quebec Sikh Community . His leadership and spirit of Seva were accentuated during his multiple terms as Founding Member and President of the Gurudwara Sahib Quebec of Montreal. He lived by the philosophy he once shared: "One of the fundamentals of our faith is to share our blessings with the less fortunate ones." His tenure was marked by this generosity, ensuring the Gurudwara remained a place of refuge, worship, and community for all.
Within his family, Prithvipal Singh was a figure of quiet strength, immense warmth, and wisdom. To his sisters and younger brothers, he was their "Veerji"—a protector and mentor. To his many nieces and nephews, he was “Mama Uncle”, "Mamaji" and "Bade Papa," always ready with advice, stories, and encouragement. Truly an icon to those who knew him, he embodied a rare blend of traditional values and a forward-looking spirit. He carried himself with humility and deep care for those around him.
Prithvipal Singh is survived by his devoted wife Harminder Kaur, his loving children - Kanwal, Minipreet, Dr. Matoo Pal, and daughter-in-law, Jessica; and two adoring grandsons, River Gian Singh and Jett Singh, all of whom carry forward his legacy of resilience and compassion. His life was a testament to the power of faith and the enduring strength of family bonds.
A celebration of life in his honor will be held at La Maison Darche on Monday, May 18th from 11 AM - 2 PM, immediately followed by kirtan & prayers at Gurudwara Sahib Quebec from 3:30 - 5:30 pm followed by langar. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered as a man who shared his blessings abundantly.
