Amparo G. Guevara, 86, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 22, 2018 in Brownsville, Texas. Amparo had a gentle soul and generous heart of gold. She greeted you with a smile and made you laugh with her sense of humor. Her spirited side always had a prayer for family and for those that asked for one. When a family member needed advice, we took it to heart. Stories of her youth taught us about her life and her funny way of expressing them made them interesting. She loved dancing, shopping and buying antiques, traveling, sight seeing and casinos. Amparo had a tradition of making tamales at Christmas surrounded by family. She will be dearly missed by family and friends and loved while on earth and now in heaven.
Amparo is preceded in death by her daughter Rosalinda Venegas, parents Santos Garza and Eulogia Pacheco, siblings Santos Garza Jr., Maria Guadalupe Barrientos and Altagracia Barrientes. She will lovingly be remembered by her husband Ignacio Guevara Jr. of 58 years of marriage, daughters Irma Venegas, Olga Venegas and Rosie (Arturo) Murua, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and sister Amelia Medrano.
Serving as pallbearers are Ignacio Guevara Jr., Rudy Arevalo, Favio Balladares Jr., Raul Vasquez, Danny Paredes and Juan Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Alexander Arevalo.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 12pm to 10pm with a rosary at 7pm at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista. Mass on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 2pm at St. Luke Catholic Church followed by a committal service to Buena Vista Burial Park.
