Careli Ann Garza

A vibrant light, a devoted daughter, sister, and friend — we celebrate the extraordinary life of Careli Garza, whose legacy of love, leadership, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Born into a family that adored her, Careli was the cherished daughter of Eliseo Garza Saenz and Carmen Garza, and the deeply admired older sister to Eliseo Garza III. She was also the beloved granddaughter of Rosalinda Saenz De Garza and Jose Sergio Galvan, and was preceded in death by her grandfather Eliseo Garza Duran and grandmother Maria Rita Ramirez De Galvan.

She is also survived by her beloved fur baby, Gigi Garza — her constant companion and source of joy — along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends who were like family.

Careli's presence was a gift — bold, brilliant, and beautifully unapologetic. She led with vision and heart in her role as Assistant Director of Career & Technical Education, where she transformed lives by creating opportunities, uplifting students, and connecting communities. Her legacy in education — through systems she built and lives she touched — will carry forward for generations.

Careli’s heart was boundless. Quietly and without ever seeking recognition, she gave to those in need — ensuring students had caps and gowns, warm meals, and even support with basic necessities. Her love was felt by all, from her colleagues to the many students whose futures she helped shape.

Even while bravely facing cancer, she showed up with grace and strength, always choosing to focus on what she could give — her wisdom, her laughter, her unwavering commitment to excellence. She brought joy, elegance, and passion to everything she did.

Beyond her professional life, Careli was full of spirit and adventure. She traveled widely, embraced bold experiences, and lived life fully — always with her signature style and humor. She had a fierce love for fashion, a sharp sense of humor, and an ability to make everyone feel like they belonged.

To those who knew her, Careli was more than a colleague or friend — she was a guiding light, a source of strength, and a fierce, loving soul. Her presence will be missed beyond words, but her spirit will remain with us always.

A Visitation for Careli Garza will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521.

A rosary will follow that evening from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln St, Brownsville, TX 78521.

Burial will take place following the Mass, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521.

Una luz vibrante, una hija, hermana y amiga devota — hoy celebramos la extraordinaria vida de Careli Garza, cuyo legado de amor, liderazgo y generosidad vivirá en los corazones de todos los que tuvimos el privilegio de conocerla.

Nacida en una familia que la adoraba, Careli fue la amada hija de Eliseo Garza Saenz y Carmen Garza, y la profundamente admirada hermana mayor de Eliseo Garza III, quien la veía como una figura materna y la quiso con todo su corazón. También fue la querida nieta de Rosalinda Sáenz De Garza y José Sergio Galván. Le precedieron en vida su abuelo Eliseo Garza Durán y su abuela Maria Rita Ramírez De Galván.

También le sobrevive su querida compañera y perrita, Gigi Garza, así como numerosos tíos, tías, primos y muchos amigos cercanos que se convirtieron en familia.

Careli fue una presencia inolvidable — valiente, brillante y auténtica. En su papel como Subdirectora de Educación Técnica y Profesional, transformó vidas al crear oportunidades, empoderar a estudiantes y conectar comunidades. Su legado en la educación — a través de los sistemas que construyó y las vidas que tocó — perdurará por generaciones.

Su corazón no tenía límites. En silencio y sin buscar reconocimiento, ayudó a quienes más lo necesitaban — asegurándose de que los estudiantes tuvieran toga y birrete, cenas en el Día de Acción de Gracias, e incluso electricidad en sus hogares cuando era necesario. Su generosidad era genuina — era simplemente parte de quién era ella.

Incluso mientras enfrentaba valientemente el cáncer, Careli se mantuvo firme, mostrando una fuerza y una gracia admirables. Siempre eligió enfocarse en lo que podía ofrecer: su sabiduría, su alegría, y su compromiso inquebrantable con la excelencia. Lo hizo todo con estilo, con pasión y con una sonrisa.

Fuera del ámbito profesional, Careli vivió con intensidad y alegría. Viajó por el mundo, abrazó nuevas aventuras con valentía, y vivió cada momento con su estilo único y su inigualable sentido del humor. Amaba la moda, las buenas historias, y tenía un don para hacer sentir especiales a todos los que la rodeaban.

Para quienes la conocieron, Careli fue mucho más que una colega o amiga — fue una guía, una fuente de fortaleza, y un alma profundamente amorosa. Su ausencia deja un vacío inmenso, pero su espíritu vivirá en nosotros para siempre.

La velación en honor a Careli Garza se llevará a cabo el martes 3 de junio de 2025, de 2:00 PM a 10:00 PM en Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521. El rosario se rezará esa misma noche de 7:00 PM a 8:00 PM en el mismo lugar. La misa funeral se celebrará el miércoles 4 de junio de 2025, de 12:00 PM a 1:00 PM en Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln St, Brownsville, TX 78521. El entierro se realizará a continuación, de 1:00 PM a 2:00 PM, en Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mc Davitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521.
