Catalina Lopez Cortez

Catalina Lopez Cortez, 92, entered into the Lord's Kingdom on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in Brownsville, Texas. A lifelong resident of Brownsville, Catalina was born on April 30, 1925 to Narciso and Maura G. Lopez. She worked for Booth Fisheries for over 16 years. She was an active parishioner of Christ The King Catholic Church for many years. Catalina enjoyed gardening and taking care of her pets. She is preceded in death by her parents and virtually all her siblings, and husband Emiliano Cortez, 3 sons; Alberto, Emiliano Jr. and Arnoldo Cortez, 2 grandsons; Armando and Eduardo Cortez and 1 great grandson; Michael Cortez. Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Arturo Cortez and Alfredo (Carolina) Cortez, her daughter; Imelda (Cecil McRee M.D.), daughters-in-law; Yolanda Manzano Cortez and Margarita Aleman Cortez, her beloved remaining sister; Guadalupe Lopez, 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren. The Family would like to extend appreciation to her wonderful caregivers; Sonia Garza, Gloria Sifuentes and Juanita Vasquez. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Carlos Ruiz, Javier Lopez, Jaime Cortez, Adrian Cortez, Arturo Cortez Jr., Joel Cortez, Narciso Lopez III and Rodolfo Rosas. In Celebration of her life, visitation will begin Friday, July 28, 2017 with a Rosary recited at 7pm at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church followed by a committal service to Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
