

Cruz G. Carlos, a devoted family man, veteran, educator, and servant of faith, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, in Harlingen, Texas, at the age of 73. Born on May 3, 1952, in Port Isabel, Texas, he was the beloved son of Miguel and Rumalda Carlos.
A longtime resident of Olmito and Brownsville, Cruz spent his life serving others with humility, wisdom, and unwavering faith. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, a commitment that shaped his lifelong sense of duty and compassion.
Following his military service, Cruz dedicated 36 years to education as a respected math teacher at Hanna High School in Brownsville. Known for his patience, passion for learning, and ability to inspire students, he left a lasting impact on generations of young minds.
In his later years, Cruz answered a spiritual calling, serving as a Deacon for seven years at St. Luke's Catholic Church. In this role, he brought comfort to many through his outreach to the elderly in nursing homes, his presence in the lives of the grieving, and his spiritual guidance to all who sought his counsel.
Cruz's greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice Carlos, and his children: Cruz Carlos Jr. (Megan), Cristobal Carlos, Joshua Carlos, Jacob Carlos (Stephanie), and Jessica Carlos. He was a proud grandfather to seven cherished grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings: Mike Carlos, Gabriela Martinez, Connie Villarreal, Janie Reyna, and Ramona Jauhola. He is preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Rumalda, and siblings Dionicia Loera and Casimira Rodriguez.
Cruz will be remembered for his quiet strength, his generous heart, and his deep faith. His life was a testament to the power of service—to his family, his community, and his God.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Dr, Brownsville, TX 78521, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM.
The Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 9:00 AM at St. Luke's Catholic Church, officiated by his son, Fr. Josh Carlos. Burial with military honors will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
His legacy of love, service, and faith lives on in all who were blessed to know him.
