

A proud graduate of Texas Christian University, Dave had a successful career as the primary sports anchor and sports director at KRGV-TV in the Rio Grande Valley for over forty years. Among other accolades, he was a two-time winner of the Texas Association of Broadcasters “Sports Broadcaster of the Year” for play-by-play broadcasting. He was also honored multiple times by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters as a member of the “Best Newscast Team” for sports hosting and reporting. Throughout his career, Dave always emphasized the importance of good sportsmanship and fair play in his reporting and broadcasting.
Dave was especially proud of his “Lifesaver” Award presented in 2013 by theTexas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA) for his successful efforts to raise awareness and increase organ donation in Central and South Texas and his recognition in 2015 as an outstanding alumnus of Naperville Central High School in Naperville, Illinois. A close childhood friend of Dave’s recalls him writing sports stories for the local Naperville newspaper when he was just sixteen years of age.
Preceding Dave in death was his mother, Arlene Parker Brown. Survivors include his wife Drue Brown, son Jeffrey Brown, daughter-in-law Amber Brown, grandson Nicholas Anthony Brown. and sister Marlene Parker.
According to his wishes, Dave will be cremated. A private graveside service for immediate family members and close friends will be held at a later date.

They also wish to thank Penny Bennett for her life-saving kidney donation as well as Dr. Oladayo Sanusi and Dante de la Garza for their kind and compassionate care.
