David was a lifelong resident of Brownsville and served in WW2. He was drafted in 1945, fought in the European theater, landing in France and deployed to Italy and then to Germany. He had five brothers who also served in the U.S Army. He received the Army of Occupation and the World War 2 Victory Medals.
David worked as an auto mechanic at Pan American Airlines, Central Motors, and International Harvest for several years. He was very involved with his church and his wife, Tina, attended church regularly and knew many of the congregation.
He had a wide variety of interests and a great number of friends. His family meant the world to him and and he loved the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astro's. David will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious smile and his fun personality.
David is survived by his wife Agustina, his children, Elizabeth (Bob) Porter, Charles (Karen) Hernandez, Larry (Ceci) Hernandez and his daughter in laws, Connie Hernandez and Diana Hernandez. He is also survived by his brother Moises (Karen) Hernandez. David leaves behind ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Silverio and Basilia, sons, Robert and Herman and several brothers and sisters, Raul, Robert, Magdalena Cavazos, Silverio, Olga Guerrero, Dorcas Bennet and Tomas. He was also preceded in death by three grandchildren; Elizabeth Hernandez, Heidi Presta and Jenny Hernandez.
A visitation for David will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521 with a chapel service at 3:00 PM and following by a burial at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
