Delia Garza, age 73, of Brownsville, Texas, peacefully passed away on December 29, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Born on December 15, 1952 in Brownsville to Concepcion Garza and Gregoria Vidal Garza, Delia lived a life defined by kindness, faith, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her greatest role—and the one she cherished most—was being a grandmother.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Whether she was baking Christmas cookies, cheering at sporting events or recitals, or watching the Dallas Cowboys with her grandchildren, she made sure each one of them knew they were uniquely loved. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.
Delia is survived by her children, Armando Torres (Gaby), Rosie Sanford (Montey), and Omar Torres (Christina); and her beloved grandchildren, Aaron and Alyssa Torres, Jordan, Jeremiah, and Jazzmine Sanford, and Ava and Easton Torres, who will forever carry her lessons of strength, resilience, and God's love in their hearts. Delia is also survived by her siblings Gilbert Garza (Mela) and Connie Garza, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Concepcion Garza and Gregoria Vidal Garza, her brother Ben Garza, and aunt Carolina (Nana) Garza.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 1, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel located at 125 McDavitt Blvd., Brownsville, TX 78521.
A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 2, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2405 E. Tyler St., Brownsville, TX.
Following the Mass, the burial will take place at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Blvd., Brownsville, TX.
In honor of her love for her grandchildren and her nurturing spirit, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
