Con profundo dolor, pero también con inmensa gratitud por el privilegio de haber compartido su vida, despedimos a Enrique Chávez Martínez, nació el 30 de diciembre de 1928 y partió de este mundo el 18 de agosto de 2026, a los 97 años de edad.
Enrique fue un hombre íntegro, honesto, recto y honorable; de carácter firme y corazón generoso. Fue un esposo, padre, abuelo y bisabuelo entrañable, quien a lo largo de una vida plena dejó una huella imborrable en cada uno de sus seres queridos.
Fue un hombre fuerte, paciente y lleno de sabiduría, un verdadero pilar para toda su familia. Su presencia, sus enseñanzas y el amor que brindó permanecerán siempre entre quienes tuvieron la dicha de compartir su vida.
Hoy lloramos su partida, pero agradecemos profundamente los 97 años de vida que nos regaló, el ejemplo que nos dejó y los innumerables momentos que permanecerán para siempre en nuestros corazones. Su vida fue un legado de amor, honestidad, fortaleza y unión familiar.
Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Maria D. Cruz Chavez; sus hijas, Luz Maria Silva, Ausencia Chavez, Irma Chavez, Lupita Maria Hajj (Majed), Ana Lidia Terry (Tim) y Jannette Chavez (Jorge) ; y su hijo, Enrique Chavez Jr.
También le sobreviven sus nietos, Alejandro, Evelyna, Cristina, Liliana, Jaime Luis, Luis Javier, Paola, Gerardo, Diego y Aaron; y sus bisnietos, Maria Fernanda, Leonardo, Benjamin, Camille, Katalina y Ximena.
Asimismo, quedan para honrar su recuerdo sus hermanos, Alvaro Chavez (Yolanda) y Gilberto Chavez (Graciela); y sus hermanas, Magdalena Chavez, Maria Aguilar (Fidel), Maria Guadalupe Trejo (Miguel Angel) y su prima Rosario Chavez (Francisco).
Le precedieron en el fallecimiento su padre, Ildefonso Chavez †; su madre, Carmen Martinez †; su hijo, Isidro Chavez Corral †; su hermana, Reynalda †; y sus hermanos, Jesus † y Manuel †.
Su recuerdo vivirá eternamente en los corazones de todos aquellos que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo y amarlo.

La Misa Funeral se celebrará en Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1055 Military Rd., Brownsville, Texas 78520, el 25 de agosto de 2026, a las 12:00 p. m.
La sepultura se llevará a cabo el 25 de agosto de 2026, a la 1:00 p. m., en Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78521.

In Memory of Enrique Chávez Martínez
With profound sorrow, but also with immense gratitude for the privilege of having shared his life, we say goodbye to Enrique Chávez Martínez, who was born on December 30, 1928 and passed away on August 18, 2026, at the age of 97.
Enrique was a man of integrity, honesty, righteousness, and honor, with a strong character and a generous heart. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who, throughout a long and fulfilling life, left an everlasting mark on each of his loved ones.
He was a strong, patient, and wise man, a true pillar of his family. His presence, his teachings, and the love he gave will remain forever with those who were blessed to share in his life.
Today, we mourn his passing, but we are deeply grateful for the 97 years of life he shared with us, for the example he set, and for the countless moments that will remain forever in our hearts. His life was a legacy of love, honesty, strength, and family unity.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria D. Cruz Chavez; his daughters, Luz Maria Silva, Ausencia Chavez, Irma Chavez, Lupita Maria Hajj (Majed), Ana Lidia Terry (Tim) and Jannette Chavez (Jorge) ; and his son, Enrique Chavez Jr.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alejandro, Evelyna, Cristina, Liliana, Jaime Luis, Luis Javier, Paola, Gerardo, Diego, and Aaron; and his great-grandchildren, Maria Fernanda, Leonardo, Benjamin, Camille, Katalina, and Ximena.
Also left to cherish and honor his memory are his brothers, Alvaro Chavez (Yolanda) and Gilberto Chavez (Graciela); and his sisters, Magdalena Chavez, Maria Aguilar (Fidel), Maria Guadalupe Trejo (Miguel Angel), and his cousin Rosario Chavez (Francisco).
He was preceded in death by his father, Ildefonso Chavez †; his mother, Carmen Martinez †; his son, Isidro Chavez Corral †; his sister, Reynalda †; and his brothers, Jesus † and Manuel †.
His memory will live forever in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 McDavitt Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78521, on August 24, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1055 Military Rd., Brownsville, Texas 78520, on August 25, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78521, on August 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
