Our brother was a shining light in our community. As a politician or a preacher or a personality, he possessed a singular charisma that drew people to him. He always had a smile that could brighten any room and was a passionate advocate for helping those in need. And what a character. Whether it was cruising around town on his infamous scooter or just filling a room with his infectious laughter, he emanated one of those singular personalities. His greatest strength was his ability to think outside the box. One of his original idea were the marriages he conducted in the middle of the international bridge. He once related: "Like bringing two countries together, I'm bringing two people together. He left an enduring legacy. He never retreated in his crusade to fight for our community. Like he humorously said, “I am the Cheez. There can be only one!” His affection for people also extended to his beloved pets. We also share one profound regret. He was committed to making a difference in the BISD. Our town is a lesser place without his spirit.
