With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, friend, Esperanza Garcia, who at the age of 70 courageously fought against cancer until she peacefully departed on Sunday, August 31st, surrounded by her dearest family.
Esperanza's journey began in Matamoros, Tamaulipas; she moved to the United States with her family in January 1968. A graduate of the University of Texas at Brownsville, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and enjoyed a successful career as an accountant at one of the valley's top banks. After retiring, she co-founded and co-led TempControl Inc., a business corporation built alongside her devoted husband.
Esperanza's unwavering love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. To those who knew her, she was a strong-hearted, faith-driven, honest, and earnest woman. Her family was her motivation, purpose, and the joy of her life. She leaves behind her loving husband, Felipe Garcia, her children Jorge Felipe Garcia (Cynthia Selene Garcia) and Natalie Esperanza Saucedo (Richard Paul Saucedo), and her grandchildren Alexa Loren Saucedo, Nicolas Robert Saucedo, and Ignacio Andres Garcia. She is also survived by her sister Olga Getz (John Getz) and her brother Ramiro Cardenas Jr. (Patricia Cardenas). In her passing, she joins her parents, Ramiro Cardenas Sr. and Olga M. Cardenas.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 8th, 2025, at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn located at 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd., Brownsville, TX 78526; rosary will begin at 7PM. A dedication mass will take place on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025, at 9:00 AM at St. Mary, Mother of the Church on 1914 Barnard Rd., Brownsville, TX 78520. The burial will follow immediately after at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Esperanza's deep love for her family was evident in every action she took. While her presence will be profoundly missed, the love she shared with us will forever live on in our hearts.
"Love begins at home. And, it is not how much we do, but how much love we put in that action." - Mother Teresa
