Felicitas Gutierrez was born in San Benito, TX. She later moved to Brownsville, TX where she met her husband, Herman Garcia Sr. Felicitas was a dedicated Catholic woman who attended church every Sunday. She was a member of La Legion de Maria at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church for many years. She enjoyed singing with the church choir and volunteered at the annual church kermes. On her spare time she visited local nursing homes to pray for the sick. Her hobbies included fishing and swimming at the beach, gardening, attending the family BBQ's and singing and dancing with her Red-Crowned Parrot, Kiko. But most of all she enjoyed the company of her grand and great grandchildren. That's where she received her nickname, Granny.
Felicitas is survived by her daughter Norma Esparza, daughter Nora Garcia, son Rolando Garcia, grandchildren Isaac Rodriguez (Cristal), Nyandra Hajderlli (Xhezmi), Matthew Garcia (Cindy), Denise Garza, Elysia Torres (Arnulfo), Casandra Vera (Matthew), and Joshua Garcia.
Felicitas was preceded in death by her husband Herman Garcia Sr., daughter Nancy Garcia and son in law Martin Esparza Jr., great grandson Aaron Davis Garcia.
Felicitas Gutierrez also leaves behind numerous great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
A visitation for Felicitas will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM in Chapel of Angels at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78521. A mass will occur Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson St., Brownsville, Texas 78520 followed by a burial at 11:00 AM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt. Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78521.
Serving as pallbearers are Matthew Vera, Matthew Garcia, Denise Garza, Joshua Garcia, Deandre Garcia, Arnulfo Torres and Roberto Reyes ''Bobby".
