A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle, and brother, Gaspar Garcia Jr., 66, of Olmito, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 8, 2015 with his family present. He had bravely confronted and fought cancer. He was born May 30, 1948, in Olmito, Texas to the late Gaspar and Maria Garcia. He graduated from San Benito High School in 1967.
Gaspar worked and retired as a truck driver from Los Fresnos Builder Supply, which later became Zarsky’s Lumber Company. An amazing self-taught painter, Gaspar owned his own paint and body shop where he worked every evening with his son to fix and paint many vehicles. Gaspar was a hard worker and provided for all his family, but on Saturday nights, his passion was to dance. He and his wife spent almost every weekend Tejano dancing, whether at El Toro, Gonzalez Ballroom, or La Villita where they met many lifelong friends. Gaspar was the ultimate “Huapango” dancer. He enjoyed making people laugh, having cookouts, eating and being around all his family. He was our Hero.
