Though faced with health challenges, Gilberto lived a life full of resilience, joy, and love. He proudly served his country with honor, completing two tours of duty—one in the United States Army and another in the United States Marine Corps.
He was well known in the community for his warm spirit and for his love of selling at the flea market. It was a place where he connected with people, made friends, and brightened the days of those who came to see him. More than a pastime, it reflected his determination and his ability to provide for and raise his family, despite life’s hardships.
He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family man whose greatest pride was his loved ones. His laughter, kindness, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Gilberto is survived by his loving wife, Maria Estela Garza Garcia; his eldest son, Gilbert Garcia III and his spouse Mayra Garcia; his daughters, Fabricia Garcia and Gloria Estela Cristobal, along with her husband Jacobo Cristobal. He was a proud grandfather to Jonathan A. Garcia, Naomi Vallejo, Jamin Jacob Cristobal, and Angel Ortiz, who will forever carry his memory with love.
A visitation to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM following a memorial service at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn located at 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas 78526. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring the legacy of a man who was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
