

On July 27, 1949 she was united in marriage to Claude (Jack) Edward Vaughn. To this union were born five children. Claudia, Randy, Terry, Vance, and Kris. During her married life she was a housewife and a secretary for a lumbermill. They started life together in Indiana and later moved to Texas. She later married Bill Moline on June 12, 2000 and was blessed with 3 adult children, Marc, Lynne, and Jeanelle. Bill & Joan recently celebrated their 25th Anniversary. They traveled between their homes in Texas and Iowa.
Joan was a member of the ladies circle, a Stephen’s Minister, took communion to the shut in’s, and served on various committees of the First United Methodist Church. She was involved in mission work that took her to Utila and Mexico. Joan enjoyed traveling. Some of her favorite trips were to Yellowstone, Big Ben, hiking the Canadian Rockies, fishing at Lake Winnie and several trips to Alaska. She even traveled across the ocean to Israel. She enjoyed flying, learning to fly, and piloting her own solo flights. She loved family , friends, and with her charismatic wit, she was always up for a good card game.
She was called by the Lord on December 31, 2025, while under the care of Greater Valley Hospice at Nadia’s Private Home. She reached the age of 94, years, 11 months, and 11 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Jack, her oldest daughter, Claudia, Claudia’s husband Charlie, granddaughter Angela, her beloved brother, Bill, and Marc Moline.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Bill Moline, her children Randy (Cathy) Vaughn, Terry (Steve) Spruell, Vance (Jeanna) Vaughn, and Kris (Helga) Vaughn. Stepchildren Lynne (Luis) Silva and Jeanelle (Jon) Buseman. Grandchildren Kurt (Keira) Vaughn, Krystal (Dustin) Richards, Melissa Vaughn, Cody Vaughn, Jenny Murray, Brent Vaughn, William Stuart. Stepchildren Brittani Smith, Trevor (Kayla) Smith, Ashley Silva, Matthew Silva, Maggie Buseman, and 16 great grandchildren.
The family requests any memorial in her name be directed to the First United Methodist Church, 1225 Boca Chica Boulevard, Brownsville, Texas 78520, where Joan was a member for over 30 years.
Memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1225 Boca Chica Boulevard, Brownsville, Texas 78520 on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 2:00 pm with a visitation starting at 1:00 pm.
Interment will be at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
