Through years of dedication and hard work, he rose to become Chief Homicide Detective in Oklahoma, earning the respect of his colleagues and the community he faithfully served.
After retiring from his distinguished career, John fulfilled his dream of settling in South Padre Island, where he enjoyed a peaceful life surrounded by the beauty of the coast and the love of his family.
Above all, John will be remembered as a family man. He took great pride in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. His wisdom, steady guidance, and unwavering love will continue to live on through the generations he helped shape.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Stacy Hicks, and his cherished granddaughters, Kristina Hicks, Courtney Dickson, and Raina Bevins. John was also a proud great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Hicks, his father, John Hicks Sr., and his sister, Pamela Edgerton.
