Juan lived a life marked by service, kindness, and community. He answered his country’s call with courage, serving honorably in the Vietnam War in the United States Army. His bravery and loyalty were lasting traits that defined his character throughout his life.
After his service, Juan found joy in the simple pleasures in trying new recipes and sharing homemade baked goods with family and friends. Baking wasn’t just a hobby for Juan—it was an act of love, and a way to bring people together.
Known for his easy laugh and generous heart, Juan treasured the time he spent with friends. Whether it was over coffee and cookies or quiet conversations in the backyard, he made everyone feel welcome and valued.

Juan is survived by his son Joaquin Gomez and daughter Alexis Gomez, grandchildren Michael Brown, Mikayla Gomez and Madeleine Gomez.
Juan was preceded in death by his son Juan Jose Gomez Jr. †, is parents Gilberto Gomez Sr. † and Marina " Martha" C. Gomez †, his brothers Ovidio Gomez † and Gilberto Gomez Jr. †.
A burial for Juan will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 at 1:00 PM, Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mc Davitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521.
