Juan proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where his commitment and courage took him around the world. During his distinguished military career, he received numerous honors and awards for his excellence and leadership, including time served as a Protective Marine (PM) and in the United States Secret Service—roles that reflect the trust and respect he earned through his service.
Following his military career, Juan continued his lifelong devotion to service and public safety. He served over 20 years with the Sheriff’s Department, where he was admired for his steady presence, professionalism, and unwavering sense of duty. After retiring from the department, he continued his work at the Restitution Center, remaining a mentor and guide to many.
Outside of his professional life, Juan was a man of simple joys. He loved fishing, playing cards, and dominoes, always bringing warmth, laughter, and a competitive spirit to the table. He will be remembered for his strength, humility, and the quiet generosity with which he gave to others.
Juan leaves behind a legacy of honor, service, and love. He touched countless lives through his work and friendship, and his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Juan is survived by his wife, Herminia T. Reyna; his children Juan Reyna Jr., Roxanna Fitcher (Tim), Maximillian Reyna; his siblings Mario Reyna (Norma) and Gloria Martinez (Tony †); his grandchildren Juan M. Reyna (Dulce), Brandon M. Fitcher (Sabrina), Charles D. Fitcher (Maggie), Kassandra Reyna Guerra (Jorge), Emily N. Fitcher, Jasmine Loayzat (Ivan), Ismael Reyna and Max Reyna Jr..
Juan was preceded in death by his parents Cipriano Reyna † and Maria Reyna †, his siblings Daniel Reyna †, Gustavo Reyna †, Raul Reyna † and Socorro Guadiola †.
Juan Reyna also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Juan will be held Monday, September 8, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
Continued visitation will occur Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 8:00 AM with a chapel service at 2:00PM in Chapel of Angels at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mc. Davitt Blvd., Brownsville, TX.
A committal service & military honors will follow 3:00 PM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
