Luis Villarreal passed away surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, intelligence, humor, and joy that will be cherished for generations.
Luis was a devoted and loving husband, married to his wife for 55 beautiful years. Together they built a strong foundation of family and faith. He was a caring and dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, as well as a beloved uncle and brother. His family was the center of his life, and his presence brought warmth, guidance, and laughter to every gathering.
Luis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for four years, a commitment that reflected his discipline, integrity, and sense of duty. He was a graduate of Saint Joseph Academy and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in Indiana.
A lifelong educator and mentor, Luis worked as an apprentice pipefitter instructor and later as a professor at U.S. Steel in Gary, Indiana. He was widely known as a mathematics wizard, often sought out and admired by colleagues and peers for his knowledge, patience, and remarkable accomplishments.
Beyond his professional life, Luis embraced life with enthusiasm and charm. He loved ballroom dancing and socializing, always enjoying good company and conversation. He was an undefeated domino player and also excelled at blackjack and poker. Trips to Las Vegas were among his favorite adventures, where his sharp mind and playful spirit truly shined.
Luis was known for the loving greetings he shared with his children and family, often saying, “¿Cómo estás, hijito? ¿Cómo estás, hijita?”—words that will forever echo in their hearts. True to his confident humor, he also liked to say, “I may not always be right, but I am never wrong.”
Luis Villarreal will be remembered for his brilliance, his devotion to family, his service, and his joyful approach to life. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, taught, and loved.
He is survived by his sons, Luis Cesar Villarreal Jr. (Ana) and Marco Arturo Villarreal. His grandchildren include Laura Villarreal( Sebastian), Ashley Villarreal, Stevie Villarreal (Andrea), and Stephanie Villarreal (Scott). He leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Dominic Villarreal, Darren Villarreal, and Ashton Villarreal. His brother, Guillermo Villarreal, is among his surviving family members.He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will treasure is memory forever.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia Villarreal, his son, Esteban "STEVE ENVY" Antonio Villarreal, his father, Salvador Villarreal, his mother, Adela Solis Villarreal, his brothers, Salvador Villarreal and Oscar Villarreal, and his sister, Irma V. Kowalski.
A visitation will be held at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, Chapel of Peace, located at 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas, 78521, on January 25, 2026, from 1:00 pm until 12:00 am (next day) with a prayer service at 7:00 PM
Burial will be at Buena Vista Burial Park, located at 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas, 78521, on January 26, 2026, at 11:00 am.
