

Lydia spent her last days surrounded by her beloved friends. Lydia was a devoted and caring daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. She worked at McNair’s and Levi Strauss until her retirement. She loved spending time with her friends, especially Sylvia Moran, Consuelo Lara and Mary Serrata.
She is preceded in death by her father, Alberto S. Garza and her sister, Sylvia D. Chavez.
Lydia is survived by her mother, Hortencia P. Garza; her sisters, Alicia Turnbaugh and Maria Estela Garza of Corpus Christi, Mary Jo (Luis) Champion and Ana Maria (Eddie) Leal of Houston, Irma (Ramiro) Garcia of Brownsville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 3pm to 9pm with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista on Friday, October 07, 2011.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Dr., Brownsville, Texas with committal service to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park on Saturday October 08, 2011.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Turnbaugh, Jaime Garcia, Rolando Garcia, Edward Leal and José A. Leal.
