Manuel C Vargas

Manuel C. Vargas was born in Abasolo, Coahuila, Mexico to Santos Castillo Vargas and Meliton Vargas. He received his education in Valle Hermosa, Tamps. Mr. Vargas emigrated to the U.S. in 1959 to Brownsville, Texas where he later worked at Pan Am Food Processing, GT Paving and then became a self-employed carpenter and builder. He was a parishioner at Templo Emanuel Asambleas De Dios where he served as a deacon and board trustee for the church. Manuel C. Vargas also worshipped at Templo Betel in his earlier years. Manuel C. Vargas was a loving husband and father as well as an active member of his local church community where he took joy in serving God.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Olga Vargas; children, Nohemi V. Garza (Gilberto), Irma Garcia, Jose Luis Vargas (Maria), Yolanda Trevino (David), Norma Linda Torres (Carlos) and Manuel Vargas Jr. (Cynthia); 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1pm to 9pm with a prayer service at 7pm on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista.

Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Templo Emanuel Asambleas De Dios located at 845 W. Levee with a committal service to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Officiating at the services will be Pastor Alberto Gonzalez, Rev. Raymundo Silva, and Deacon David Silva.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gilberto Garza Jr., Edgar Gomez, Benjamin Garza, Duane Garcia, Michael A. Trevino, Joel Garcia, Carlos F. Torres Jr., Jose Luis (Joey) Vargas Jr. and honorary pallbearer to be Elias Olvera.

Donations can be made in honor of Manuel Vargas to Templo Emanuel or Sunshine Haven.
