Margarita C. Figueredo, age 65, of Brownsville, Texas entered into eternal rest Tuesday, November 23, 2021 in Brownsville, TX. Margarita was born November 19, 1956 to Herminia Gil Hensley and Joaquin Figueredo Peniche †.
Margarita is preceded in death by her father Joaquin Figueredo Peniche †; her sister Martha Eloina Figueredo Gil †; her paternal grandfather Joaquin Figueredo Marti †, her paternal grandmother Atala Peniche de Figueredo †, her maternal grandfather Manuel Gil Lopez †, and her maternal grandmother Olivia Cavazos de Gil †.
Margarita is survived by her loved ones, mother Herminia Gil Hensley(Edward Hensley step-father); daughter Martha Zoleta, son Omar Figueredo; brother Joaquin Felipe Figueredo(Guadalupe), sister Olivia Urbina(George); grandchildren, John Anthony Zoleta, Gabriel Alexander Zoleta, Amalia Figueredo, and numerous nieces & nephews.
Margarita adored her children and grandchildren, as well as her nieces and nephews. They are all left to grieve her.
Margarita was the first female to receive her degree in Civil Engineering in her University. She then went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics from UTB. Her family says she was born with a passion for teaching. Since middle school, her classmates sought her out for help. She had a gift of explaining difficult math and making it easy to understand. She taught with love and patience for about 30 years. Margarita was a mathematics instructor at UTB for 10 years. She was also a math teacher at Cummings Middle School for 25 years and at Hanna High School for the last 4 years. She loved celebrating Charro Days with her family & friends, and was a member of the Sombrero Fest Association for years.
She was the president of the local Association of Texas Professional Educators.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 01, 2021 from 2pm to 9pm, with a Rosary to start at 7pm in Chapel of Peace at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. All services to conclude after visitation.
