Maria del Refugio Alvarado

María del Refugio Alvarado nació el 16 de junio de 1938 en Méndez, Tamaulipas, hija de José Barrera y Barbarita Valderas. Partió a la presencia del Señor rodeada del amor y las oraciones de su familia.

Fue una mujer de profunda fe católica y fiel miembro de Our Heavenly Father Church. Su fe fue el pilar de su vida y la guía que la acompañó en cada etapa de su camino. Siempre encontró fortaleza en la oración y dedicó su vida al servicio de Dios y de su familia.

María trabajó durante muchos años en la industria de la costura, desempeñando su labor con dedicación y responsabilidad. Sin embargo, su mayor orgullo y alegría fue su familia. Como esposa, madre de ocho hijos, abuela y bisabuela, entregó su vida con amor incondicional, sacrificio y entrega a quienes más amaba.

Le sobreviven sus queridos hijos: María Esther Martínez (Joe), Nelly Alvarado, Marisela Rivera (Andres), Benjamín Alvarado Jr. (Elizabeth), Blanca Patricia Alvarado (Horacio), Norma Garza (Gary), María de la Luz Alvarado Krzywda y Victoria Leigh Alvarado.

También le sobreviven sus amados nietos: Jeremy Benjamin Miller (Jessica), Mackenzie Richard Miller (Roxanne), Jacqueline Nicole Miller-Hernández (Aaron), Lynda Leigh López, Derek Andrés Rivera (Cindy), Randy Elihu Rivera (Gabriela), Benjamín Alan Alvarado III, Joseph Brandon Alvarado, Ángel Peña, Jade Lynn Krzywda, Josslynn Marie Krzywda, Jakob Dawson Krzywda, Alessandra Leigh Arrellano y Vanessa Leigh Arrellano.

Asimismo, deja un preciado legado en sus bisnietos: Cody Alexander Miller, Everleigh Amelia Miller, Mackayla Selene Miller, Maverick Raleigh Miller, Andrea Nicole Rivera, Yadira Rivera, Justin Benjamin Rivera y Elyanna Rivera, quienes fueron una gran bendición y motivo de alegría en su vida.

Fue precedida en la muerte por su amado esposo, Benjamín Alvarado Sr, sus padres José Barrera y Barbarita Valderas.

María fue el corazón de su familia. Su hogar siempre estuvo lleno de amor, fe, generosidad y unión. Con su ejemplo enseñó la importancia de trabajar con honestidad, mantener la fe en Dios y valorar a la familia por encima de todo.

Aunque su partida deja un profundo vacío en los corazones de quienes la amaron, su legado de amor, fortaleza y fe continuará viviendo en cada uno de ellos. Su familia encuentra consuelo al saber que ahora descansa en la paz eterna y en la presencia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

La velación que se llevará a cabo el día 14 de junio de 2026, de 12:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m., en Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, Capilla de Paz, ubicada en 125 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Ese mismo día se rezará el Santo Rosario a las 7:00 p.m.

El servicio de despedida en capilla se celebrará el 15 de junio de 2026 a las 10:00 a.m. en Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, Capilla de Paz.

El sepelio se llevará a cabo el 15 de junio de 2026 a las 11:00 a.m. en Buena Vista Burial Park, ubicado en 5 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.

María del Refugio Alvarado was born on June 16, 1938, in Méndez, Tamaulipas, to José Barrera and Barbarita Valderas. She entered into the presence of the Lord surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.

She was a woman of deep Catholic faith and a faithful member of Our Heavenly Father Church. Her faith was the foundation of her life and the guiding light that accompanied her through every stage of her journey. She always found strength in prayer and dedicated her life to serving God and her family.

María worked for many years in the sewing industry, carrying out her work with dedication and responsibility. However, her greatest pride and joy was her family. As a wife, mother of eight children, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she devoted her life with unconditional love, sacrifice, and commitment to those she loved most.

She is survived by her beloved children: María Esther Martínez (Joe), Nelly Alvarado, Marisela Rivera (Andres), Benjamín Alvarado Jr. (Elizabeth), Blanca Patricia Alvarado (Horacio), Norma Garza (Gary), María de la Luz Alvarado Krzywda, and Victoria Leigh Alvarado.

She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Jeremy Benjamin Miller (Jessica), Mackenzie Richard Miller (Roxanne), Jacqueline Nicole Miller-Hernández (Aaron), Lynda Leigh López, Derek Andrés Rivera (Cindy), Randy Elihu Rivera (Gabriela), Benjamín Alan Alvarado III, Joseph Brandon Alvarado, Ángel Peña, Jade Lynn Krzywda, Josslynn Marie Krzywda, Jakob Dawson Krzywda, Alessandra Leigh Arrellano, and Vanessa Leigh Arrellano.

She also leaves behind a treasured legacy in her great-grandchildren: Cody Alexander Miller, Everleigh Amelia Miller, Mackayla Selene Miller, Maverick Raleigh Miller, Andrea Nicole Rivera, Yadira Rivera, Justin Benjamin Rivera, and Elyanna Rivera, who were a great blessing and source of joy in her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benjamín Alvarado Sr., and her parents, José Barrera and Barbarita Valderas.

María was the heart of her family. Her home was always filled with love, faith, generosity, and togetherness. Through her example, she taught the importance of working honestly, maintaining faith in God, and valuing family above all else.

Although her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who loved her, her legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to live on in each of them. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she now rests in eternal peace and in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be held on June 14, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, Chapel of Peace, located at 125 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. The Holy Rosary will be recited that same day at 7:00 p.m.

The chapel farewell service will be held on June 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, Chapel of Peace.

Burial will follow on June 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Buena Vista Burial Park, located at 5 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
