Ricardo “Ricky” Mireles Jr., age 43, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 26, 2020, in Brownsville, Texas. Ricky died a loved and important man. He was a man of unshakeable conviction and always in the service of others. He was a man of integrity and honor. The world has truly lost a great individual!
Ricky was born in Brownsville, Texas, on October 11, 1977, son of Ricardo and Alma Mireles. Ricky graduated from Simon Rivera High School in 1997 where he was involved in the Yearbook Club, ROTC and Football. He also studied at the University of Texas at Brownsville.
In January 2000, he met his beloved wife Adriana Reyna Mireles. They united their lives with Christ at St. Luke’s Catholic Church on July 9, 2004. Their first road trip as a married couple began as a honeymoon to Walt Disney World. They were blessed with a daughter, Kimberly Alexis Mireles, but God called her home also too soon.
Ricky truly lived life to the fullest. He loved to drive so he took his family on very adventurous road trips. They got to travel extensively to Mexico, the West Coast, the East Coast and their last road trip together was to Canada. We will forever hold all those memories in our hearts.
Ricky was employed with BISD since 2012. He began as a Parent Liaison at Putegnat Elementary School and continued there with his current position of Teacher Aide for Early Childhood Special Education. He truly loved what he did and helped everywhere he could. He was a jack of all trades and never limited his job to only what was expected of him. He went above and beyond the call of duty.
Ricky had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He always had a story to tell and loved to joke around. He was a larger than life individual who was a go getter and a very hard-working man. He loved his family, socializing, cook outs, fishing, the Dallas Cowboys, Little Debbie Cakes, chocolate and Jack Daniel’s.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree with Council 1553. He was an avid pool player for many years for the APA. He was also a proud member of the Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Squire Association.
Ricky is preceded in death by his daughter (Kimberly Alexis Mireles), grandmother (Maria Elena Villa) and grandfather (Isidro Rodriguez). He is survived by his loving wife (Adriana Reyna Mireles), his parents (Ricardo and Alma Mireles), his sister (Nancy Mireles Schutz), and his three beloved Goddaughters (Valeria Torres, Tiffany Schutz and Krystal Garibay).
