Rolando "Uncle" Avila entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 10, 2017 in Brownsville, TX. Rolando left to cherish his memory the apple of his eye, his niece, Fahtima Avila. He was a one of a kind jewel that loved his family and friends dearly. He was a man strong in Faith; God, family and friends were pilars of his life. He was a great friend to many who was always willing to give a helping hand. His contagious smile was undeniable; always had a kind word for anyone, no matter how his day was going. His family was everything to him, for him there was nothing better than to watch his niece play golf. Hanging out with friends, watching sports events (his MJ & Bulls or Da Bears!) was a Sunday well spent. He worked at the Vision Center for Wal-Mart 15 years before his passing. He was passionate of his work, but mostly loved serving his customers. Rolando will be terribly missed by many, so many memories are left behind to remember his smile, laughter, jokes and specially his grand love. He is preceded in death by father; Juan De Dios Avila; paternal grandparents; Ramon and Maria Del Refugio Avila; maternal grandparents; Raul and Josefa Sosa and uncles; Jose G. Sosa and Flavio Avila. Rolando is survived by his mother; Viola S. Avila; sister; Yessenia Avila; niece; Fahtima Avila and brother-in-law; Noe Gutierrez. Visitation will be held from 9am to 9pm with a rosary at 7pm Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista. Mass will be celebrated at 2pm at San Pedro Catholic Church Sunday, August 13, 2017 with committal service to follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
