He estado pensando en ti.

Hace poco empece a sonar otra vez.

Things are progressing so fast. There’s so much excitement inside of me & so much sadness too.

You’re gone & yet I still feel like I’m leaving you behind. I know that doesn’t make sense, but it feels different knowing you won’t be joining me on this next journey. I won’t get to call you, tell you what’s happening, hear what you think, or have you here to see what happens.

Maybe I’m being too rash? Maybe I’m taking a chance that won’t work out… Maybe this will all blow up in my face. I honestly don’t know.

But I’m going to try mom. I’m going to invest in my future the only way I know how: throwing caution to the wind, taking the leap, & going ALL in. I’m scared, but I’m not going to let that fear keep me standing still.

I’m making it happen. I’ll make you proud. Even if you’re not here to see it, I’ll carry you with me every step of the way! 💪🏼🩷

Esperaba poder darte buenas noticias.

I just got home & the silence is creeping in again. I feel restless whenever I'm not moving around or keeping myself busy. I think that's why I've been traveling so much lately. As long as I'm going somewhere or doing something, I can keep my mind occupied. But the moment I stop... everything catches up with me.

All these emotions come rushing to the surface & I don't know how to stop them. I don't know how to stop myself from spiraling. The sadness feels so heavy & underneath it is this anger that we didn't get more time together. I keep thinking about all the moments we'll never have, all the conversations we were supposed to share, all the ordinary days I took for granted because I truly believed we'd have so many more.

This is my life without you now.

I miss us nena. I miss our relationship. I miss knowing that no matter what happened, I had you. I miss calling you just to tell you something small, hearing your laugh, listening to you tell me about your day. I miss being your daughter..

It's been months since you passed & I keep wondering when this ache will ease. When will my heart stop feeling so heavy? When will I be able to think about you without feeling like someone is squeezing my chest? I just wish missing you didn't hurt so much.

I love you mami. I always will.

I'm experiencing new firsts without you mom.. Moments I always imagined you'd be a part of now carry an emptiness I never expected.

It's bittersweet knowing there won't be new memories for us to make, or even the chance to relive the old ones together…

You left me too soon bicha 🤍

You always let me chase my sense of wonder & adventure. You never made me feel like my dreams were too big or too far away… Instead, you walked beside me through every step, cheering me on, & believing in me long before I believed in myself.

Now I find myself standing at the edge of new beginnings & I'm afraid to take the leap. The unknown feels so much heavier without you here. Somewhere along the way after you passed, I lost a piece of that fearlessness you helped me carry.

Life has been so hard without you nena. Sometimes it feels like I'm meeting myself for the very first time yknow? & maybe that's exactly what's happening.. I'm learning who I am in a world where you no longer exist beside me. Like I'm discovering a version of myself that has to keep going without your unwavering faith in me.

I never realized how much of my courage came from simply knowing you were with me. Now I have to find it on my own.. & some days, I don't know how.

I hope that wherever you are, you’re able to still walk beside me. I hope that when I finally find the strength to jump into the unknown again, it's because a part of you never stopped believing in me.

I changed the sheets on your bed tonight.. I had washed & put away the ones that were on your bed before you passed & tonight I took them out again. As I was changing them, I caught the faintest smell of you.. It was barely there, but for a few seconds it felt like you were here with me again.

And all I could think was that this is probably the last time. Because the next time they're washed, your scent will be gone too. I know it's just the way life works, but it hurts more than I know how to explain. It feels like I'm losing you all over again, one small piece at a time. Now even the smell that made everything feel like home…

I wish there were a way to keep it forever.. To put your scent in a bottle so I could open it whenever I missed you. Because I'm terrified of forgetting what it was like to walk into the house & know you were there without even seeing you!

I miss you so much nena. More than words will ever be enough to say. I would give anything to have one more hug, to hear you one more time, to smell you one more time..

Te amo mami

Being at the house without you feels so strange. It's just not the same.. I knew it was going to be different, but it still hurts realizing you're not here. I love you & I miss you every day momma

It’s been 3 months since you passed nena & I’m still struggling to fully believe that you’re not here anymore. I know it’s real, but some part of me still expects you to be here. I still have moments where I want to call you, talk to you, or tell you something that happened & then I remember I can’t.

I’m coping though. I really am trying. I’ve gotten better at getting through the days even though some days are still harder than others. There’s still this emptiness inside of me that I don’t know what to do with.. it’s a space that I fear will never filled.

I’m trying to put my energy into things that are good for me.. to keep moving forward & to learn how to live with this new reality. It’s a learning curve trying to figure out how to be okay without you here.

I miss you more than I can explain. I wish you were here with me now but know that I’m trying.

Thank you for being my best friend & the person who always had my back. I love you mom. I miss you.

What I’d do to enjoy another cup of coffee with you momma. I’m ready to spill the teaaa ♥️

Miss you

You were so beautiful. So dignified. I always saw you like a princess taken hostage.. someone who forgot there was ever another way out. Maybe that's unfair. Maybe that's just how I made sense of it. Maybe, like Stockholm syndrome, you learned to love the cage because you had to?

I don't know if this was the life you would have chose or thee life you dreamed of when you were young. I just hope that somewhere in all of it, you found moments that made staying worth it. I hope you laughed more than I knew. I hope you felt loved, even when life made it hard.

You taught me so much without ever trying.. What to hold onto, and what to let go of. Maybe you never realized you were teaching me at all. Or maybe you did.. Maybe it was part of your design all along…

I'll never really know but what I do know is that I wouldn't be who I am without you.

Thank you momma.. For everything you gave, everything you endured & everything you were

I wish this was just another trip. One where you were coming to see me or packing up to go back home because at least then I'd know this goodbye wasn't forever. I'd know I'd get to see you again..

How could you leave me here like this mom? But the question that keeps breaking me is how could I have let you be so alone? I replay everything over and over wishing I had one more chance to be with you and tell you how much I love you.

I wasn't ready for a world without you in it and I'm still not.

I'm so grateful for my dogs. They've kept me going on the days I didn't think I could make it. They've been my comfort, my reason to get out of bed, and they've helped keep me sane. But they've never replaced you.. nothing ever could. There is a space in my heart that belongs only to you and it will always be yours.

Please know that no matter what happened between us, no matter the distance or the things left unsaid, you've always held a special place in my heart. You always will.

I miss your voice. I miss your laugh. I miss hearing you say my name. I especially miss knowing you were just a phone call away mom

I wish you were here with me. I wish I could tell you everything that's happened since you left. I wish I could hear you tell me it's going to be okay the only way you could..

I love you more than I ever found the words to say. I hope you knew that. I hope you still know it.

I love you mom. Always.

It comes in waves mom. I'm still trying to process that you're dead. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that I'll never see you again. Sometimes it doesn't even feel real. I catch myself thinking I should call you and then I remember I can't.

I keep thinking about everything I wish I would've done differently. The things I said. The things I didn't say. The goodbye we never got to have. I really don't know what to do with all of it.

Life feels empty now. The worst part is that you're the person I'd usually call to talk about this and you're the one person I can't call anymore. You were my best friend. The one person I could tell anything to. Now I just carry it around by myself.

Sometimes I'm so fucking angry. Not at you. Just at how pointless all of this is.

Why’d you have to die? Why couldn't we have had a little more time? Just enough to make things right. Just enough for me to tell you I love you one more time. Just enough for one real goodbye?

I miss you. I miss you so much mom. I miss you in ways I don't even know how to explain. I just know I miss you all the time. I miss you mom.. I miss you so much

I miss you mom.
Thank you for everything.

Love you nena

Extraño tanto llamarte y empezar a planear nuestro siguiente viaje.

Sigues conmigo? Estas decepcionada de mi? Todavia me quieres?

Te necesito mom. Por favor 🙏🏼

I’ll carry you forward mom. not with regret, but with peace.

If you taught me anything, it’s how to be resilient. how to keep going even when things are difficult. You didn’t back down from life & you wouldn’t want me to either 💪🏼

I love you mom.
I miss you so much

Voy a seguir adelante y voy a seguir haciendote sentir orgullosa.

Quiero verte tanto. Te extrano.

I love you mom

There’s something that’s been hurting me a lot lately mom, and it’s feeling like I’m slowly forgetting you. I can’t even really explain it, but some memories of you just don’t feel as clear anymore. Little details & moments or expressions.. simple things I used to remember so easily now feel like they’re slipping away from me.

Sometimes I replay videos of you thinking it’ll help me remember everything exactly the way it was, but even then I can’t anymore. My mind tries to fill in the blanks on its own, and that scares me because I don’t know what parts are real memories anymore and what parts I’m creating just to hold onto you.

It hurts so much to feel this way. I’m scared of forgetting your voice, your gestures and dances, the way you talked to me, or all the little things that made you you. I want to hold onto every part of you that I can, but sometimes it feels like my mind just can’t carry it all anymore

Fui a la iglesia para orar.
Mom.
Ya no quiero hacer esto.
No quiero sentir esto.
Me siento tan solo Mami.
Que me dirias. Ehhh. Que?
Dime que hacer. Please mom.
Please.
Please mom.

Y luego me acorde..

Looking at the recordings now, the signs were all there mom. They were there in your face, in your voice, in the way your body looked, in the way you moved, and somehow I still didn’t see them. I hate myself for that. I was so distracted with my own problems, my own stress, my own stupid life that I couldn’t see the person I loved most in the world slowly fading right in front of me.

And now I can see it so clearly that it makes me sick to my stomach. Every video feels different now. Every memory feels poisoned because now I know what was really happening while I stood there blind to it. The ache in my chest gets worse every time I replay these moments because there is nothing I can do now except sit here and live with it.

I’m so sorry for getting upset with you for not eating. I understand now that you probably physically couldn’t anymore. And knowing that destroys me because instead of realizing how sick you were, I got frustrated. I keep replaying those moments in my head wishing I could go back and hold you instead, sit with you instead, take care of you better instead of assuming there would always be more time.

There is so much left unsaid between us that I feel like I’m suffocating under it. And the worst part is that writing to you doesn’t even help anymore because no matter how much I cry or beg or apologize, you are still gone. Nothing changes that. Nothing brings you back.

I feel trapped between sadness, anger, shame, regret, and disbelief. I don’t know what to do with any of it. I just carry it around until it crushes me at night when everything gets quiet and I’m left alone with my thoughts.

You weren’t supposed to die mom! You just weren’t. How could you be here my entire life and then suddenly not exist anymore? How could I talk to you one day and then never hear your voice again? How could the world just keep moving without you?? & how could you leave me here alone to figure out how to survive this without you?

No te tocaba irte nena

Siempre he querido que seas feliz mom.

Wow. Ok mom, that was fast!

Perdoname, mama. Voy a volver a fallarte. Simplemente no puedo hacerlo.

Creo que he estado durmiendo demasiado.

Thank you for loving me in my worst and in my selfish ways. I know you loved me and I will carry that love with me until the very end. You encouraged and supported me in my craziest ideas and dreams. I didn’t say it enough, but thank you for always being there.

You have left an emptiness in me that I have been trying to fill and remembering your love and the moments we shared brings me such overwhelming sadness, but it also brings comfort. I am so grateful to have had a mom like you.

For everything said and left unsaid, I love you and always will. Even in my quietest days, know that I feel you and remember you and your love.

I’ve been going back to places we went together, trying to feel you again. I still can’t believe you’re gone. It’s in the most random moments that I think about you and just start to cry.

I’m trying to be strong, but it’s so hard being here without you. I really thought we had more time!

There’s this ache in me I thought would go away if I came to see you, but it didn’t. It’s still here. The tight feeling in my chest won’t go away & I don’t know what to do with it. It feels like I have nothing to hold onto anymore.

I got some news today & almost called you without even thinking... like I still could. I miss you so much. Nothing really helps.. it just stays there... I just want to see you, hug you & hold your hand.

I miss you so much momma

I didn’t realize how difficult it would be to be here at the house without you. Everything feels so… strange & unfamiliar. I feel so lost right now. I’m doing my best to stay strong, but it’s hard. I truly thought we had more time together.

I’ve been staying busy these past few days. I know it’s going to catch up to me & I know what’s coming, but I can’t help it. Any quiet moment or any time I’m alone, my thoughts drift back to you or to a memory we shared…

I feel so tired, but not even sleep lets me escape.
Ay mami, solo estoy tan cansada

I bought Derek a new pair of boots today. When I saw them, I thought of you right away. I think you would’ve liked them too... I haven’t forgotten my promise. I know how much he meant to you. You loved all your grandkids so much, but he had a special place in your heart.

I’ll keep looking out for him & support him the way you did for me & the way I know you would’ve wanted me to.

I think of you in little moments like today. I miss you so much mom. I love you ❤️‍🩹

I just saw a video about how the body knows when it's dying & it made me think of you in our last days together. Did your body know what was happening before any of us understood it?

I am reframing our last moments as a blessing in disguise because I know you were able to reconnect, or at least have someone you had not spoken to in a long time with you again. Whatever was or was not said, I hope that brought you peace, or brings you peace now.

I am almost grateful that I have nothing but the best memories of you. Maybe I am just selfish like that because even though your last weeks were tough and painful, I did not witness that. Just a bit of it. I would have hated to have my memory of you changed by that.

For whatever happened the way it did, I am grateful.

Love you.

Love you mom ❤️

I need you to know how much I love you. You were my best friend, my comfort, my safe place, my home. No matter where life took me, you were always the person I could come back to. That will never change. You are a part of me, in everything I do and everything I am.
