Sabino completed a degree in Economics for Business from The New York State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences – Cornell University in 1976.
He was passionate about business, his work history included working for H.E.B. for 27 years. Having started as a sacker and stocker, he was promoted to the position of Unit Director. In the mid-1990’s he was instrumental in spearheading Wal-Mart International in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico and Buenos Aires, Argentia for 3 years. Mr. Chong and his wife were the owners of La Rancherita Mexican Food Restaurant for 17 years and owners of M.A.R.S. for 29 years.
Sabino attended Templo Restauracion Y Poder. Out of gratitude for 20 years as a cancer survivor, he surrendered his life to Christ.

Sabino is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years: Hilda G. Chong; his siblings: Guadalupe Banda, Sergio Chong Sr, Graciela Uresti; his children: Minnie Haley, Samuel Chong (Dr. Graciela Y. Chong), Betty Chong-Menard (Joseph Menard), Nancy Chong Ruesch (Richard Ruesch); his grandchildren: Brenda Lee Wagner, Crystal Lynn Keigher, Dr. Samuel Lee Chong (Kara Bufford Chong), Dr. Brandon Lee Chong (Adriana Salinas Chong), Christian David Menard (Joanna Lyles-Menard), Crystal Danielle Menard, Alexandria Sen Chong and Sabino Esquivel; his great grandchildren: Derrike Wagner, Dreyden Wagner, Claire Chong and Kaylin Chong.
Sabino was preceded in death by his parents: Samuel Chong Poo † and Margarita Salinas Chong †; his brother: Samuel Chong †.
A visitation for Sabino will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM with the Chapel service starting at 3:00 PM in Chapel of Angels at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Following the visitation will be a burial at 4:00 PM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
