Socorro is survived by her daughter Lidia Martinez; daughter Ofelia Ramirez; daughter Socorro Valero; son Julio Ortiz; son Alejandro Ortiz; daughter Leticia Martinez; son Mario Ortiz; son Francisco Ortiz; daughter Griselda Rodriguez; daughter Gloria Tamez; and daughter Sylvia Russell.

Socorro was preceded in death by her son Leonardo Ortiz†; father Cesario Cardenas† and mother Manuela Reyes†.

She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 87 great grandchildren, 52 great-great grandchildren and 3 great-great-great grandchildren.

A prayer service for Socorro will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 at 7:00 PM in Chapel of Peace at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A chapel service will occur Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Chapel of Peace, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Followed by a burial at 11:00 AM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.

Serving as pallbearers are Miguel Ortiz, Alex J. Ortiz, Frankie Ortiz, Julio Ortiz, Michael Tamez, Abraham Rodriguez, Roy Valero and Emiliano Herrera.
