In 1945 at the age of seventeen he arrived in Harlingen from Mexico, where he worked as a cook and other food industry jobs for a few years before returning to Mexico, this time to Matamoros, where he continued to work in the Food & Beverage service industry. It was in Matamoros where he met his future wife Enriqueta Vizcarra Camarena, with whom he started a family before returning to Texas in 1970, but this time with his wife and their five children. Once in Brownsville he continued his employment at Valley Inn & Country Club which had begun in 1968 and remained there as Maitre'D until 1990 before going on his own for another twenty-five years-plus as a caterer and food and beverage service provider, with the help of other sub-contractors whom he routinely hired, and many of whom went on to become his close friends to his final day. Over the course of these twenty-five-plus years he forged countless close relationships with many Brownsville families, organizations and businesses who traditionally hired him to provide the solid and thoughtful service he was known for providing to his loyal clientele. Vicente will be remembered for his great sense of humor, solid work ethic and high standards while serving others.
He is survived by his five children, their spouses, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and the Brownsville community at large which he so proudly served.
