William E. Stevenson went home to Jesus on Sunday, July 8, 2018. Billy was born the first of twins on October 28, 1925, at their home on West Saint Charles Street in Brownsville, Texas. He graduated from
Brownsville High School in 1942. He attended one year of Brownsville Junior College before enlisting in the Army Air Corps Reserve in September of 1943, at the age of seventeen. Bill was called to active duty in San Antonio the day before Thanksgiving in November 1943. Bill was active in the Air Force Reserve program and retired as Lieutenant Colonel on October 28, 1985. Bill returned home after WWII and went to work with his father in the appliance business, Tom Stevenson Company. He met Mary Claude Basden from Groesbeck, Texas, and they were married on March 12, 1950, and enjoyed a beautiful family life for 36 years. Bill and Mary have two children, Sharon Lee (Kubenka) and Dale Edward. Mary passed away November 23, 1986. Three years later he married Betty Rusteberg Richardson. They had many happy years together until her death in 2008.
Bill is preceeded in death by his parents Thomas Warren Stevenson and Edna Marie Deyo, and sister, Ethel Marie. He is survived by his brothers Tom and Robert, children, Sharon (Stan Kubenka) and Dale (Karen Wood), grandchildren Laura Ann (Dennis Mayo), Stacy Rae (Jeremy Bilodeau), William Edward II (Tara Schlemmer) and Sara Elizabeth (Marcus Willis), and great grandchildren, Bethany, Kate, Chase, Basden, Eleanor, Sawyer and many other wonderful loving relatives and friends. We all will remember Bill shared his unconditional love and knowledge with everyone. Bill Stevenson could fix anything and would help anyone he could.
Services for Bill Stevenson will take place on Saturday, July 14th, at 10:00 am at Church of the Advent, Episcopal, located at 104 W. Elizabeth Street, Brownsville. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park located at 5 McDavitt Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation, 1894 E.
