Agnes Marjorie Young, 83, of Bryan, passed away Friday, July 27, 2012 at Hospice Brazos Valley In-Patient Unit. Interment will follow at Rest-Ever Memorial Park Cemetery.
Agnes Kosh Young was born November 9, 1928 in College Station, as the fourth of eight children to Adam and Victoria Kosh. She was a graduate of A&M Consolidated High School and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She met her husband, John Allen Young, and married shortly after he returned from active duty in the South Pacific Theater during World War II. She worked at J.C. Penny’s in sales and was given an award for being an outstanding employee. Later she worked at Cox Communications, formerly McCaw’s Cable Vision. She was as conscientious in her employment as she was at home.
Agnes and John enjoyed 49 years together, and during their retirement, they tended to a 5 acre garden and livestock in the Tabor community. They truly enjoyed each other’s company until the day her beloved husband died.
With fond memories, her children remember her as an excellent mother and homemaker. Agnes’ three children always “volunteered” her to take classmates on field trips and help with other school activities. “My mom can do it,” was a familiar phrase her children often used. Agnes is known for her love of family, church, and God, a woman of gracious hospitality, and a willingness to help others. She set a wonderful example for her children and extended family, and truly exemplified the Virtuous Woman spoken of in Proverbs 31.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Pauline Holubec.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law Virginia and Ernie Wentrcek, Shirley and Dan Wilkerson; son and daughter-in-law Samuel and DonnaYoung, all of Bryan; brothers and sisters-in-law Fred and Evelyn Kosh of Bryan; Henry Kosh of Bryan, Ed and Catherine Kosh of Moulton, Melba Giovinazzo of Staten Island, NY; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen Bean of Corpus Christi; Ann and David Hutcherson of Corpus Christi, Margaret Norcross of Wolfe City; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their grateful appreciation to Dee Blackmon and her staff for the health care Agnes received while living at The Establishment. They are also very grateful to Hospice of Brazos Valley for the care she received during her last days.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley at 502 W. 26th Street Bryan, TX 77803.
