

Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday August 22 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Bill was born April 30, 1932 in Brazos County to Albert William and Opal Merle (Gandy) Massey. After attending schools in Bryan, he proudly served our country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. After he returned from the service Bill married the love of his life in 1955 Earlene Rice and they shared 60 wonderful years together. Bill worked for the Bryan Rubber Plant where he later retired after 39 years of service. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and the great outdoors and loved sharing those experiences with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who they knew and loved as Pop. Bill loved sitting on the back porch visiting and telling stories with his family, friends and neighbors.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda Conway and bother-in-law, Herbert Conway; bother-in-law, Dalton Rice and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Avis Rice.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Earlene Massey of Bryan; one son, Mike Massey of Bryan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Scarmardo and Dewayne “Bubba” Davis, Lorie and Ricky Tubbs all of Bryan; brother and sister-in-law, Albert “Jack” Massey Jr. and Billie Massey of Snook; brother-in-law, Don Rice of Bryan; seven grandchildren, Mandy Stark and husband Michael, Christy Widener and husband Greg; Matt Lapaglia, Cory Lapaglia, Chris Soles, Kenneth Soles and Heather Soles; and eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Hospice of Brazos Valley for their compassionate care.
