Carrie Denk McDonald

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday April 16 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Robertson County.

Carrie was born April 11, 1918 in Bryan the daughter of Julius J. and Julia (Buzek) Denk. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1935. Carrie was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in College Station, and the Joy Club at Calvary Baptist Church in Bryan. Carrie worked for 36 years for Sears, where she was the manager of the catalog department.

Carrie liked to cook for family and friends. But more than that, she loved to drive. She made sure to visit her friends daily, whether they were home bound or in the hospital. At her home, she enjoyed watering her flowers or just watching and feeding the birds.

Carrie is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard “Buddy” McDonald; daughter, Caroline McDonald Eng; brother, Eddie Denk and sister, Elsie Smith.

She is survived by her sister, Mildred Denk Steger of Brownwood; granddaughter, Denise McBride Littlejohn and husband Michael of Bryan; grandson, Douglas McBride Jr. and wife Debbie of Bryan; great-grandchildren, Casi Conrad and husband Jake, Douglas McBride III and wife Brittany, Chandler Littlejohn and Jamie Botkin; great-great-grandchildren, Baylee and Brooklyn McBride; son-in-law, Dr. Kenneth S. Eng of San Antonio and numerous nieces and nephews.
